Last week, Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a public health emergency in New York City. The measles outbreak that started in Williamsburg, Brooklyn spread to Queens and Rockland County with more and more cases being reported each day.
CNN reported on Monday morning that the number of measles cases in the United States is the highest it’s been in 25 years with 90 new cases in the last week and 555 in 2019 total.
Dr. Lynda Gerberg, lead pediatrician at Northwell Health- GoHealth Urgent Care, says that she’s never seen an outbreak like this before. The Northwell clinic on Kent Ave. is getting more calls than ever before at measles ground zero in Williamsburg.
