 Far Rockaway in Queens is a perfect example of one of New York City’s food deserts, showing that even in the capital of the world people living in poor neighborhoods have to struggle to find affordable and accessible fruit and vegetables. Here, fast food restaurants outnumber supermarkets and farmer’s markets, leaving Far Rockaway’s residents to choose their own poison.
