On the Frontlines: Working at a Drive-Through Test Site

At the drive-through center, hundreds of cars line up so their occupants can get tested. Here is what it is like outside the windows.

Annmarie Grossi, 23, works at a drive-through coronavirus testing center on Staten Island. Within two weeks of moving to New York City, Annmarie started a new job filling out paperwork for anxious New Yorkers waiting to be tested. Annmarie found herself in a tent, surrounded by the National Guard, wearing protective gear, and dealing with hundreds of patients a day, many of them infected with coronavirus. In the short time she has worked there, she has seen the number of daily patients double.
