Preventing Gun Violence, One Street at a Time

Save Our Streets Morrisania is a part of a larger grassroots organization fighting to curb gun violence in local communities. Born and raised in Morrisania, outreach workers, Erik Farmer and Marisol Rivera, have the rapport they need to positively influence the youth in the neighborhood. They canvas the streets twice a day between the hours of 4 p.m. and 12 a.m. connecting with the community with an emphasis on the 16-25 year olds. Since 2014 when the group hit the streets, gun injuries in the South Bronx are down 37 percent and gun shootings are down 63 percent.
