One man was killed and two injured after a shooting in Harlem yesterday. The shooting began at around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of 135th Street and Riverside Drive, according to the NYPD.
Officials took a 27-year-old male found with multiple gunshots to New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. The victim, identified as Christopher Allen from the Bronx, later died, according to the police.
The two other victims were a 26-year-old man who went to St Luke’s hospital on his own and a 27 year old who officials took to the same hospital with gunshots to his chest and leg. The victims have not yet been identified by officials.
The incident seemed to be a drug dispute, but the investigation is still ongoing, according to New York City Council Member Mark Levine, who was on the scene.
Residents from the area said drug sales have been an issue in the area in past years. “There has been gang related activity in the area, but I don’t remember the last time I saw this happening before,” said 23-year-old Jacob Estrella, who lives on 135th Street.
According to Council Member Levine, “Neither of the survivors are cooperating with the investigation.”
