Omar al-Bashir, president of Sudan, was ousted on April 11 after three decades in power. However, for Sudanese protesters in Sudan and around the world, this was not enough. The proposal, by military leaders in Sudan, of a two year transition period under military rule was not real change, they said, likening it to old wine in new bottles.
On Friday, a group of Sudanese Americans gathered outside the United Nations headquarters in New York, calling for U.N. condemnation of military rule, and civilian government now.
