Melody Velez Ortega likes to make cakes that defy gravity and sometimes look nothing like cakes at all. She’s made cakes that look like designer bags, musical instruments, mini transportation vehicles, and even life-sized animals, flipping everybody’s culinary expectations upside down. Just a couple years ago she was making cakes for her family and friends, but now she’s making cakes for celebrities, like Fat Joe, and competing on Food Network for Winner Cake All.
